Practice Circles

Presence in community

Practice Circles offer you the opportunity to engage in contemplative practice with others on a regular basis. They’re a way of sharing in Presence in community.

Each Practice Circle is a closed group that meets via Zoom for 6 ~ 10 consecutive weeks on Friday mornings at 8am NZST. The gatherings run for 90 minutes.

We begin with a period of silence, followed by the recitation and illumination of a focussing text that’s resonant with the Wisdom path, which serves as a gateway to contemplation.

We sometimes extend our contemplation in writing, image-making, and/or simple conscious movement. There are opportunities to share with each other what emerges for us in contemplation, but this is not an expectation.

Participant Experience

  • I've come to recognise the practice circles offered and held by Pip are aptly named; they are for practice. In community, I get to practice quieting my restlessness and being with my whole self in the loving presence of Pip and others, who find resonance in Spirit. These sacred circles have come to feel like a sweet pause to my chaos; a long, cool drink to my thirst; nourishment for my hungry soul. I bring myself to these circles and I am met, as I am. To Pip and those who gather, I am so grateful.

  • Coming to the practice circles has become a delightful anchor in my life that brings a feeling of companionship, inspiration and stillness. I usually tend to avoid online gatherings because I find them hard to focus in and disembodied. But something about the way Pip holds the space allows an amazing sense of connection with my own embodied presence along with that of the group. The offerings are varied but always spur a sense of emergent meaning as the group shares impressions. I feel unusually comfortable either to speak or stay silent. I feel accompanied in life with the friendship and attentiveness of these very open and gentle spaces.

  • Excited, nervous and vulnerable - that’s how I felt when I sat at the computer ready to start my first ever practice circle. Pip was so welcoming and the choice of content was brilliant, in every meaning of the word. So rich, deep and powerful. I loved the contemplation, group silence and hearing illuminations from the other circle members. I’m already excited for the upcoming practice circle offerings.

  • Attending the practice circles has become an important touchstone for me in my life. Each session is structured around time in collective silence and a potent offering connected to each circle's theme - this may be mystic wisdom or teaching or poetry. Rare to an online setting, I feel there's a real spaciousness and immediacy to the quality of the space Pip creates by guiding us into deeper experiencing through somatic meditations and group sharing. I find it’s this reverance for each participant's unique experience whether they speak or not that builds a felt collective sense of deepening into a space together over the course of each circle that is nourishing and rich with inspiration. What a gift!

  • The practice circle gatherings are rich in content, substance, insight and wisdom. The sessions are beautifully and sensitively held by Pip who has great experience in making sure that participants feel valued and at ease. If you are feeling a need to be inspired and replenished, then these heart-centred sessions are for you.

  • The practice circles that Pip offers are a source of healing, peace, and learning for me. Pip’s wisdom, heartfelt acceptance, and ability to help each member of the circle feel loved, safe, and respected, is truly a rare gift.  Even though I’ve never met Pip nor any of the participants in person, the atmosphere of trust and unconditional love that pours out from everyone is extraordinary! Every time I sign into our Zoom meeting I feel like I’m entering a loving family home. Plus, I learn something new in every circle. I am grateful for my dear circle family.
